Kira Hawaii’s Rebel Collection showcases jewelry designer’s edgy side

Rebel With a Cause

Jewelry designer Sheri Kira would have made Michael Jackson proud. Her new line, dubbed the Rebel Collection, screams, "I’m bad." And it makes bad look good with strong statement pieces, chunky rings and chain-link bracelets.

Kira, a 30-year-old Mililani native, began designing jewelry as a hobby, creating unique pieces for herself and for close friends. By coincidence, Kira means "sparkle, shimmer, shine" in Japanese. After leaving her former jobs doing business development and graphic design, Kira took that sparkle, combined it with her innovative personality, and created jewelry brand Kira Hawaii.

Kira says the inspiration for her Rebel Collection came from a yearning to stand out from the crowd … and show a little more of her rebellious side. The collection exudes a feeling of extreme confidence, meant to bring out your inner Sasha Fierce. Kira's favorite piece? The Rebel Ring. (And if anyone has anything to say about rings, it's Bey.) Its thick band hugs your finger as chains drape down, giving the piece movement: Think glamorous, mini-shackle for your finger. Don't forget to pair your Rebel Ring with a Jailbreak Bangle—It's really two barbed-wire type bangles, attached by three chains—guaranteed to instantly make you feel like the most fashionable prisoner ever.
