Kenny Endo celebrates his 50th anniversary as a master taiko drummer with a series of events taking place in August in Honolulu. Along with concerts at UH Mānoa’s Kennedy Theatre Aug. 9–10, the Taiko Arts Center will offer workshops and cultural presentations on the beloved Japanese art form Aug. 12–14. Also in the lineup: Healing Beats, a taiko documentary by Spanish filmmaker Iván Muñoz Ureta, screens at Doris Duke Theatre on Aug. 15.
