French Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus’ Collection Le Splash Debuts

When it came to debuting his SS22 collection, he looked for an equally enthralling backdrop—and found it in the pristine shoreline of Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island Beach.

From a fuchsia catwalk in the middle of a Provence lavender field to a wooden path winding through rolling fields of wheat, French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus is known for dreaming up visually stunning runways. So, when it came to debuting his spring-summer 2022 collection, he looked for an equally enthralling backdrop—and found it in the pristine shoreline of Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island Beach.

Entitled Le Splash, the Jacquemus collection explores various states of water, referencing artist David Hockney’s pool paintings and aquatic sports via swimwear in vibrant shades of blue, net tops, wavy bags and softly structured suiting adorned with dropletlike glass beads. What made the show, the label’s first outside of France, even more special was that Jacquemus procured primarily Hawai‘i talents to bring the vision to life, from models and photographers to tailors and hair-and-makeup artists. Talk about lei chic.
