It’s a New Season

And with it comes change.

It’s time to spring into summer! OK, I know that’s bad. But there’s a reason you may notice fewer (good) puns in this issue than usual. Longtime staffer Stacey Makiya left to pursue another opportunity after 13 years with HONOLULU. I say “staffer” because she wore many hats (and shoes!): stylist, nonprofit leader, fashion editor, events manager. I’m eternally grateful to her for her kindness, the opportunities she gave me when I was still fairly new to the company and, most of all, her heart. It’s impossible to choose a favorite memory with her, but I will say my least favorite: the time she convinced me to go with her to a yoga sculpt class for our fitness blog. My body was not ready. You’ll still find a few stories from her in this issue and the next, and hopefully more down the line.

But aloha also means hello, and we’re happy to introduce Andrea Lee, HONOLULU’s new digital editor. In addition to managing the daily flow of stories over on honolulumagazine.com, Andrea, a fellow cheese lover, will lead our content strategy for the web and collaborate with the editorial team on all kinds of exciting projects. Head over to our website to see what she’s been up to, or send an email to say hi: andreal@honolulumagazine.com.
