Calling all pet owners! You already flood Instagram with pictures of your furry, feathered and scaled companions. So here’s a chance to enter your pet in the Hawaiian Humane Society’s 2018 Pets in Paradise calendar contest.

What is it?

Every year, Hawaiian Humane Society holds a contest asking pet owners to submit photos of their photogenic animal friends through the month of June. The top three contestants win a feature in the Hawaiian Humane Society newsletter, a professional photography session, a pet goodie basket and a month feature in the 2018 calendar.

How does it work?

For a fee of $25 that goes to the Hawaiian Humane Society’s programs, pet owners can submit a photo of their pets to the website. These photos are uploaded and the general public votes on the animals they like best. The three animals with the most votes are the winners.

What kind of photos do you submit?

The photo must be oriented horizontal or landscape rather than portrait or vertical and be only of the pet—sorry, no humans. The picture file also must be at least 1 MB.

Pro Tips:

  • Promote your pet through social media. The Hawaiian Humane Society contest page has quick and easy shortcuts ready for you to click and share your pet pics on several different media sites.

  • To ensure that voters can clearly and easily see your pet, make sure the photo is close up.

  • Don’t pick a distracting background for the photo—your pet is the focus.

What if you’re not a pet owner?

Even if you don’t have an animal of your own to submit, you can still vote. Who can resist looking through photos of adorable pets?
