The last king tide of the summer happened over the weekend and people were worried that, compounded with Hurricane Fernanda, it would cause even heavier damage than the last king tides that occurred in May and June. However, the hurricane dissipated, and the king tides were big, but not devastating. The tides should return to normal as we head into the fall, says Martin Guiles at the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System.
