Hudson and Rocker Hubby Selling Makakilo Manse

Hudson, of the Bizarro Morning Show on Star 101.9, and her rocker husband, Steve Hott, are selling their Makakilo home. The couple bought the residence six years ago, having fallen for the property’s private location and unobstructed ocean and mountain views. “We loved that the house was on a perimeter lot, and that no one could ever build behind us,” says Hudson. “It’s located on a cul-de-sac, and the neighborhood is quiet. There’s a constant breeze. We have central AC, and I think we’ve used it maybe 20 times in the last six years.”
The couple completed a top-to-bottom renovation, including the addition of a third floor. Designed as a mother-in-law suite, the light-filled space consists of a living room (currently Hudson’s workout room), kitchen, one bedroom and one bath. The main floor was designed with entertaining in mind, says Hudson. “We’ve had a lot of rockers over,” she says. “The house is great for entertaining.” In fact, the residence was featured on an HGTV show in 2007 called “Entertaining in Paradise.”
Much of the aforementioned entertaining takes place on the large main-floor lanai, which has views for days. Inside, guests can lounge in the sunken living room, chat in the cozy dining room or linger in the kitchen, an open space with custom koa-wood cabinets, a center island, eat-in bar and stainless-steel Bosch appliances. And for guests who need to crash, there’s also a full bedroom and bath. The top floor is home to two additional bedrooms, both of which have their own lanai, two more baths and the sprawling master suite, also with its own lanai. It’s in the master suite that you’ll find Hudson’s favorite part of the house—her approximately 300-sq.-ft. walk-in closet (Steve has one to match)—though she’s also partial to the giant master bath with separate vanities and a three-person Jacuzzi tub.
Other details worth noting include a three-car garage, new landscaping and a media room. While there isn’t much in the way of a backyard, Hudson says it is possible to build a swimming pool on the sloped lot, and that they had looked into doing just that—until they decided to sell, a decision that was spurred on by Steve’s record deal. The couple is now shopping for a place in L.A., as well as a more turnkey residence here in Honolulu.
Money talk: The approximately 4,400-sq.-ft. residence is listed at $1,295,000.
