Hot opportunity in Mariner’s Cove

This newish listing in Mariner’s Cove isn’t fancy, contemporary, or full of bells and whistles, but it’s expected to draw a lot of interest thanks to the one feature realtors love: Location, location, location. (Click here for details.)

At first glance, the price seems a little high, at over a million dollars, since this Windjammer model is older —built in 1969 — and the interior design is a bit dated, despite the new paint and carpet. But two comparable homes in the area recently went in to escrow for$1.2 and $1.3 million, respectively, due to the neighborhood being very desirable (as many East Honolulu homes are), plus it’s right on the water with a view of Koko Head. The breezes here are fairly gentle, which is also a plus, since other sections of the marina experience more wind.

The two-story living area is a spacious 2,507 square feet with an open layout, including four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The lot is 7,702 square feet and has a pool with a huge deck, perfect for entertaining.

“The whole community centers around the marina and marina front activities, stores, and restaurants. People move toHawaii Kai for the access to the water, boating, skiing, paddle boarding and other activities,” says realtor Jane Davis of East Oahu Realty. “That’s why the community’s annual Christmas parade is on the water. Someone buying in Niumalu might get a front row seat to the annual boat parade and festivities.”
