Home Improvement
Working out at home? Sure, you do it all the time. For aerobics, you make laps to the kitchen for cheese dip, and for strength training, you lift cases of beer into the fridge.
Time to shape up, dumbbell. Here’s a workout you can do right at home that will actually get results.
Carmela Tafoya holds her “Living Room Workout” live through Skype, so all you have to do is log on via web cam, and voila, you’ve got a personal trainer right in your room.
Tafoya has been a personal trainer for more than 20 years to famous athletes (Martina Navratilova) and musicians (Black Crowes, Indigo Girls), and even since she’s moved from the mainland to Manoa, she still trains her loyal clients all over the U.S., Australia, and Europe – all through her virtual workouts on Skype.
Her philosophy is focused on strength training and building muscles, and not logging countless hours on a gym treadmill. The exercises are simple and straight-forward (think: bicep curls, tricep dips and lunges) so you don’t need any complicated equipment – just a pair of weights and a chair will do.
All she asks for is just 20 minutes, twice a week, and you’ll get a full-body workout that she customizes to your needs. She holds private and group sessions, and you won’t have to step foot out of your room.
So, a buff bod is possible. You just have to do a little home work.
