Here’s the Entertainment Lineup for the Best of Honolulu Festival 2018

From ‘ukulele to ballet, the entertainers at this year’s Best of Honolulu Festival have a few tricks up their sleeves, or at least one of them does.

Sure, there is the food, the shopping and activities, but there are also several reasons you will want to stop, rock and roll at this year’s Best of Honolulu Festival, presented by American Savings Bank. The Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® Card and Mileage Plan stage will be located near the parking, just across from the rows of food booths. Set your blanket down early to save your spot then set your timer for these great acts that will bring live music, dance and even a little magic into your afternoon.

10 a.m.

Nā‘ehu​

Given Yagi and Ronson Asuncion got their start with ‘ukulele lessons as kids. Now the duo performs Hawaiian music and, of course, ‘ukulele and guitar instrumentals at events around Hawai‘i. 

10:55 a.m.

Karlie Goya 

Brown Bags to Stardom and ‘Ukulele International Contest winner Karlie Goya picked up the‘ukulele early in life. At 14, the teenager went to Kickstarter to fundraise for her debut album of original compositions, Till the End. Now the 16-year-old performs for audiences around the island and a growing audience on YouTube.

11:50 a.m.

The Tonga Sisters

​Kahuku sisters Alexsia, Tiueti, Lela, Elsiva and Nina have been performing at church and events for seven years. But it was their appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in February (above) that really launched them into local consciousness.

Kaulana the Magician

Honoka and Azita

The ‘ukulele duo has traveled to Japan, New Zealand, Austria and more bringing music to audiences around the world. Honoka and Azita were named the grand champions of the 2013 International ‘Ukulele Contest, have opened for entertainers including James Taylor and OneRepublic and are working on their first full-length album, that their website says is set to be released this year.

2:35 p.m.

Ballet Hawai‘i

The 42-year-old company initially began as a support group for the Honolulu City Ballet. Now, the school teaches more than 400 students of all levels every year.

DJ720, ALT105.9 and 102.7 Da Bomb
