At just seventeen years old, Pomai has already been through more than most kids her age. During Christmas of 2015, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a rare type of cancer that causes cells in the lymphatic system to grow abnormally. The disease can easily spread throughout the entire body and compromises her body’s ability to fight off even minor infections.
Pomai knew exactly what her Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i wish would be. With most of her time spent at the hospital, surrounded by people, she wanted nothing more than a special space created just for her, a tree house hideaway inspired by Harry Potter, her favorite fantasy world, where she could dream and create in a boundless environment.
Pomai is only 1 of 38 keiki who still have unfulfilled wishes. With just three months left to fulfill its mission to grant the wishes of all eligible keiki and bring joy and hope in the face of life-threatening illness, Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i is calling upon the kindness of others with Give Wishes Wings, an all-day fundraiser on Friday, June 16 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit its website and make a small, one-time donation of just $38 and you’ll change a child’s life forever. Click here to see how Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i has changed lives of keiki through granted wishes.
Tune in live to the event on Friday via 94.7 KUMU or KITV-4. During the event, Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i will reveal a special surprise on-air to a lucky wish keiki!
