Hawaii designer Emiko Miyazawa launches new edgy jewelry line, M33Ms
Edgy jewelry doesn’t always have to mean spikes and leather. Local designer Emiko Miyazawa’s newly launched M33Ms line puts an elegant spin on the pretty-gritty concept with subtly rebellious pieces in sterling silver. Miyazawa, who lists architecture, nature, industrial objects and watch movements among her inspirations, holds a graduate gemology degree from the Gemological Institute of America but credits the Honolulu Museum of Arts’ metalworking classes and a mentorship with jeweler Jason Dow with giving her the skills to finally bring her sketches to life. Along with rivet and hex nut details, her styles each feature a dainty 1.5 point diamond, and include slim, angular bangles, stacked rings that swing apart into knuckledusters, and a pendant necklace that splits to reveal its hidden gem.
1. Triple Rivet ring, $200.
