It’s Friday and you’re looking for a pau hana spot downtown that has great pupu, fast service and isn’t crowded to the walls. Stop at the bar inside Restaurant Epic, and you’ll find all of that plus more.

The menu offers an assortment of dishes that you can’t get at other bars in Chinatown: fried shrimp with Cajun remoulade ($7), bruschetta ($6), short rib sliders ($7), cheddar and bacon tator tots ($6), kalua pork spring rolls ($4). But, what really makes you keep going back every Friday are the crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, mac n’ cheese bites ($5), with a $4 mojito to wash it down.

Don’t pass up the molten cake ($8), while you’re there. It’s not on the happy hour menu, but the chocolate-peanut butter pudding-like center will turn your happy hour into a happy night.

Happy hour 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., 1131 Nuuanu Ave., 587-7877. restaurantepichawaii.com.
