The gym’s boring ellipticals, sweaty dumbbells and smelly locker room make you want to run for the hills. But hitting the jogging trails on your own can be a lonely uphill battle.

Don’t get bent out of shape so fast. Introducing Fitcamp, Oahu’s newest outdoor group workout.

Creator and instructor Levon Basso leads the small classes of six to 10 people in parks around O‘ahu, and uses only the challenges of the terrain (think: hills, trees, sand, park benches) and your own body weight to create super-effective exercises—no dumbbells required.

But this is no walk in the park: the hour-long session begins with five to 10 minutes of low-impact warm-ups, followed by 45 minutes of rapid-fire, back-to-back exercises—with virtually no breaks—in order to maximize calorie-burning.

Because every single session is different, the program will keep you, and all your muscle groups, guessing. A mix of cardio, strength, agility and flexibility training, the exercises can be adapted to a wide range of ages and fitness levels, so whether you’re a beefcake or couch potato, you’ll get a kick-ass workout.

And it’s way cheaper than similar programs. At $60 a month, the twice-a-week classes cost only $7.50 each—making them a great run for your money.

Right now, classes are being held in Ala Moana Beach Park on Mondays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., with classes forming now in Kapolei and Mililani. Basso says that as long as six people sign up, he’ll take his mobile Fitcamp anywhere on the island. So you should be able to find one in your neck of the woods.

Looks like your gym routine has run its course.
