Got a Fear of Heights, but Want to Live in Kaka‘ako? Check Out These Townhomes
At The Collection, new townhomes offer a way to live in Kaka‘ako with direct access to the street and an attached garage, while still having the amenities the new projects are known for.

At The Collection, located at 600 Ala Moana Blvd. across South Street from Restaurant Row, all 450 units in the high rise are under contract. At Waiea and Anaha, just down the street in Ward Village, more than 90 percent of the high-rise units are sold and the buildings are nearing completion. Maybe high-rise living doesn’t appeal to you, but you do like the idea of a vibrant, new urban neighborhood. The Collection has reported that 85 percent of buyers are local residents—proving contrary to what many of those in red shirts at HCDA hearings were saying, locals are moving into Kaka‘ako.
Look closely, and you’ll see there’s another way to live in the new neighborhood, but still have direct access to the street, a garage to pull your car into that’s attached directly to your home, all the while having the amenities new Kaka‘ako projects are known for. Each of these new buildings has a selection of townhouse options, too.
At The Collection, there are two of these townhomes currently listed for sale. Both have three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, more than 1,800 square feet of living space, and private rooftop terraces that overlook the neighborhood. From the street-side renderings, they look a bit like the famous New York City townhomes on tree-lined streets, with an entrance half a flight of stairs above street level. If they were cars, we’d say they come fully loaded: Gaggenau appliances and beautiful finishes throughout.
For the price, you could get a 40+ year-old home in Makiki Heights, Nu‘uanu or Mānoa Valley, but you’d still have a commute each morning. With these, you pay surprisingly low maintenance fees of $648 per month—possibly less than maintaining an aging home anywhere on O‘ahu—and a five-to-10 minute walk to downtown.
