For more than 20 years, the Assaggio family of Italian restaurants has been pleasing our palettes with its award winning, southern Italian cuisine. Husband and wife team, Thomas and Siri Ky, first opened Assaggio in Kailua, and has since opened in Hawaii Kai, Ala Moana, Mililani and Kapolei. The Kys have shared their success by giving its dedicated employees ownership interest in the business. The newest addition to the family, the Assaggio Bistro Kahala, will be owned and operated by long time employees. To celebrate the grand opening, they are giving back to the island community that has supported them throughout the years.

“We were very fortunate when we first came to the United States where people helped to give us our first start,” said Thomas Ky, principal owner of the Assaggio chain. “We wanted to give back to the people of Hawaii in some small way. At the suggestion by my banker, Diane Murakami, Senior Vice President at Bank of Hawaii, we decided to partner with Aloha United Way because it supports many local non-profit agencies as we wanted to give to those who need help during these tough economic times.”

Assaggio Bistro Kahala will be open every day for lunch and dinner and is located at 4346 Waialae Avenue across from Kahala Mall next to ‘Umeke Market.
