Fun Things For Singles to Do Alone in Hawai‘i
Single in Hawaiʻi? There are lots of solo activities available.
GO SHOPPING AT A FARMERS’ MARKET
Every Saturday, the Kapi‘olani Community College farmers’ market is bustling with locals and tourists. Wake up early and beat the crowds for parking. Expect long lines for fried green tomatoes, barbecue abalone, fresh baked scones and homemade teas. Everything is grown and made locally, so you can ask local farmers for tips on preparing your food. Stock your kitchen with heirloom tomatoes, handmade mozzarella and fresh eggs.

INDULGE IN A CHOCOLATE TOUR
Had a bad day? Chocolate makes everything better. Escape to Kailua for a chocolate factory and cacao farm tour. You’ll feel like the kid in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory—all your troubles will melt away once you taste Madre Chocolate’s chocolate bars. Every last Friday of the month, you can try free samples of limited edition chocolates concocted by the shop’s “mad scientists.” If you want to learn how to make these sweet confections, sign up for a bean-to-bar chocolate-making class. On Valentine’s Day, the shop will be offering a tour of chocolates from around the world.

Break your old gym routine and hit the beach. For an intense upper body workout and meditative experience, take stand-up paddle boarding lessons from the beach boys. You’ll learn the art of balance as you stand on a surfboard and paddle over the Pacific Ocean.

UNWIND AT A SPA
We all need some R&R to recharge our batteries. Make your way to Ho‘ala Salon and Spa on the third floor of Ala Moana Center, where you can pamper yourself with a new haircut, facial, manicure and pedicure. This salon only uses Aveda products, and even serves Aveda Comforting Tea (both caffeine- and sugar-free). Loosen those tense muscles over a massage or relax to the spa’s signature “Himalayan Rejuvenation Treatment” (a 120-minute spa body treatment that includes natural oils dripping onto the forehead). Once you’re finished, enjoy a gourmet lunch from Neiman Marcus nearby.
