There’s no better way to see how fresh, locally caught fish gets from the ocean to your plate than to stop by the Honolulu fish auction. Located at Pier 38 in the Honolulu Fishing Village, the state-of-the-art auction, which is held Monday through Saturday, sells everything from bigeye tuna to monchong. Get there early: While the auction goes as long as there are fresh fish to sell (the longest auction to date lasted 14 hours), the opening bell rings promptly at 5:30 a.m., and bidding is fast and furious. Call 536-2148.
