Hopping from boutique to boutique in search of local designer Florencia Arias’ highly sought-after pieces can sometimes feel like a game of capture the flag. One shop may have her slinky tube skirt in a brilliantly colored palm- leaf print, but the only size left is extra, extra small. The other shop, way across town, just sold the last peacock-blue cut-out maxi from her fall collection.

Finally, there’s help—make a one-shop-stop at Arias’ newly opened flagship boutique in the former Peggy Chun Gallery space on Nuuanu Avenue. Hyper-sleek racks suspended from the ceiling showcase the brand’s latest collection of dresses, mini skirts, tanks, shorts and blouses. Arias herself is usually there to help customers find exactly what they’re looking for. “In the boutique we carry the four lines we produce every year—spring, summer, fall and holiday,” she says. “All of our designs are made to help women feel comfortable, but very sexy.”

Arias also makes it a point to stock fashions from other talented Argentinean designers. You’ll find Alfonsina Ladogana’s coveted CIRQUE belts, handcrafted DUA jewelry and an array of comfy Paez slip-ons (think TOMS but cheaper), all of which complement Arias’ effortlessly chic styles. “With the right accessories, all my designs can easily be kept low key or dressed up for a night on the town,” says Arias. Two-in-one, now that’s a truly win-win situation. Florencia Arias, 1161 Nuuanu Ave., 384-9039.
