HONOLULU Magazine stopped by the International Market Place’s Grand Lanai to check out the grand opening of new restaurant Yauatcha Waikīkī. A contemporary restaurant concept, Yauatcha offers dim sum, unique cocktails and patisserie under one roof.

1. The traditional Hong Kong teahouse gets a sophisticated upgrade

Yauatcha is owned by Hakkasan Group, a worldwide hospitality company known for its sophisticated dining experiences. While Hakkasan has restaurants all over the world, Yauatcha is its first Hawai‘i restaurant—but, the group says, not its last.

2. A warm welcome

Rickshaw service, a red carpet and these lovely ladies were there to greet event guests. Um, can we live here?

3. Music, drinks and small bites

The night started off with a bang with a DJ spinning, Champagne flutes of Dom Perignon and dim sum bites delivered fresh from the kitchen. Verdict? Everything we tasted was delicious.

4. Serving all-day dim sum

Yauatcha serves dim sum from open to close. Dim sum for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea? Now there’s an idea we can get behind.
