1. A lava wall, covered with lush roots and vines, surrounds this 1832 church. Founded by Rev. John S. Emerson and his wife, Ursula. 

2. This alii church is comprised of 14,000 coral blocks—each weighing about 1,000 pounds—cut from local reefs. It opened in 1842 after five years of construction. 

3. This 1920 temple was established to perpetuate Shinto traditions on Oahu.  

4. This temple, built in 1915, attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year and was the first of its denomination in the Islands.

5. This temple is a replica of the 900-year-old Byodo-In in Uji, Japan. It houses a 9-foot Lotus Buddha, one of the world’s largest.

6. This church contains an 11-foot-tall Tiffany stained-glass window made in New York in 1903, and has 17 other stained-glass windows in its walls.
