Tucked into an old anthurium farm in Hilo, a company called Ola creates sophisticated spa goodies—body butters, foot scrubs, lotions—that are hand-made using fresh fruit, flowers, volcanic pumice and other natural ingredients.
“I wanted to do something meaningful and authentic. We want to be as much of a cultural experience as possible,” says owner Robin Williams, who hits the Hilo Farmers’ Market for honey, noni and coffee to use in her products. One to try: the Cane Sugar Coconut Scrub ($24), which has a luscious scent from the coconut cream and exfoliates with Hawaiian cane sugar. You can find some of the products at The Place or Executive Chef, both at Ward Centers, and at Mana Hawaii in Waikiki’s Beach Walk complex; or order at www.hawaiianbodyproducts.com, which carries the full line.
