Father's Day Specials June 2009

Looking for where to take dad to celebrate this Father's Day? Treat him to a Hale Aina Award-winning restaurant to celebrate his special day. All of the specials below take place on Sunday, June 21, 2009, unless noted.

The Pineapple Room will be presenting a special Father's Day Brunch on Sunday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will feature a mix of plated and buffet selections. For a full look at the menu, visit the menu page.

Here's a preview of what is being served:

Action Stations like a "Manwich" Bar with North Shore Cattle Co. Sloppy Joe's, Hand Carved Prime Rib, Chinese Roast Pork with Bao Buns and Omelets Made to Order. Choose from some plated selections like Pulehu" Short Ribs, "Steak and Eggs" and Pan Roasted Shutome.  Or make your way to the buffet and enjoy selections like: French Toast, Assorted Sausages and Onions, Bacon, Portuguese Sausage, North Shore Cattle Company Chunky "Chili" Soup, Nozawa Farms Corn Pudding and Pan Steamed Mahimahi "Chinese Style".

There will also be a bounty of salads, including Nalo Greens with Assorted Condiments and Dressings, Wasabi Potato Salad, Waialua Twin Bridge Asparagus Salad, Wailea Agriculture Hearts of Palm Salad, Platter of Richard Ha's Hamakua Springs Tomatoes and Honda Family Cold Tofu and Watercress Salad.

Enjoy staples like Ahi Poke and Peel and Eat Shrimp and Chilled Crab Claws or a variety of pastries. For dessert, delight in some "Milk and Cookies" with Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches and Milkshakes, Chocolate Crunch Bars, Lilikoi Cheesecake, "Pearlized" Butter Mochi with Vanilla Pineapple, Banana Cream Pie and much more.

The menu may be subject to change based on product availability and is available for adults at $45.00, Children 6 – 12: $22.50 per person, plus Tax and children under 6 are free.

Alan Wong's Restaurant on King Street will also be serving a special Father's Day Dinner that night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Treat dad to a very special 4-course dinner.

Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar will present a bountiful lunch buffet and rare and exclusive sake tasting for dad. From 10:30am to 2:30pm, enjoy an extensive menu of

Ikuko Shimizu, the only Certified Sake Sommelier in Hawaii, will host your Father's Day with a select variety of "Ji-zake" = "Microbrewed Sake" from Japan. After extensive study of Sake production, service, stewardship and sales, Ms. Shimizu had undertaken 12 exams by mail and final exam involving sake tasting in Japan to successfully attain the title of "Kikisake-shi". Since 2005, she exclusively holds the title of Certified Sake Sommelier in Hawaii. The sake tasting/pairing is presented complimentary with your Father's Day Lunch Buffet.

For the lunch buffet enjoy a Hand Carved Prime Rib Carving Station with homemade mashed potatoes.

Salad Stations include: Ahi Poke, Mixed Greens with Assorted Toppings, Ume Cucumber and Signature Homemade Tofu.

At the Sushi Stations, enjoy: Nigiri Sushi, ahi tuna, salmon, ebi, tamago, Spicy Tuna, served as mini donburi
Unagi Oshi Sushi, California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Lobster Dynamite Roll and Salmon Skin Roll.

For entrees, choose from a full selection of Fried Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, Karaage Chicken, Kurobuta Pork "Katsu", Lobster Dynamite, Teriyaki Chicken, Garlic Shrimp Rice, Yakisoba Noodle, Udon, Somen and Rice & Miso Soup.

Finally, enjoy a selection of homemade favorites for dessert.

At Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, chef/owner D.K. Kodama will host a full Father's Day Weekend from June 19th to the 22nd and feature a special "Locally Grown Omakase Menu for Two".  The menu is a special 5 course set menu that is also available with sake pairings. Here's a look:

Little Village Noodle House is offering a set menu to help you celebrate Father's Day. The menu is also available throughout the Father's Day Weekend from Friday, June 19 through the Sunday of Father's Day during normal hours (Friday/Saturday – 10:30 a.m. to Midnight; Sunday 10:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.). The menu includes: Mu-Shu Hand Roll, Golden Crispy Fried Chicken, Sizzling Shrimp & Scallop, Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Leg with a ginger onion sauce, Tender Beef Stew & Tendon Hot Pot,  Braised Tofu with Mushroom vegetables, steamed rice and dessert. Also get a free honey walnut shrimp with the puchase of the set menu. It's available for $250 for 10 people and $108 for 4 people. The Willows will also present a Father's Day Brunch & Dinner Buffet, available for $39.95 per person plus tax and gratuity. Big City Diner will feature its "Big Daddy Specials" this weekend, June 20-21. Enjoy brunch specials, served from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. including the Ultimate Big Daddy Seafood Omelet. It's a three egg omelet filled with jumbo shrimp, crab meat, fresh fish, spinach, portobello mushrooms, onion, diced tomatoes, green onion and jack & cheddar cheese, topped with a touch of sour cream, for $12.99. Or choose the Ribeye steak & eggs – a 10 oz. U.S.D.A. Prime Ribeye steak broiled in Hawaiian spice rock salt and jumbo shrimp in chef's special garlic sauce, for $16.99.
