Elegant Black Point villa

There were a lot of open houses in East Honolulu yesterday, so real estate traffic was pretty brisk on that side of town. I’m not sure if Black Point homes would normally be busy, but one in particular drew a lot of interest.

I was drawn to the listing simply from the photos in the Multiple Listing Service (click here for details). Sure enough, when you walk through the front doors, you’re greeted by the dramatic sight of 20-foot ceilings in the dining and living rooms.

The home is like a mini-resort, with four bedrooms, four baths, and two half-baths in 4,109 square feet of living area on a vast 14,400 square feet (a third of an acre) of land. It’s 20 years old, but was totally redone several years ago with new carpet, granite, marble, and hardwood floors as well as appliances, fixtures and designer lighting.

Most people walking through the house liked it because it seemed elegant, but not ostentatious. “You could use accessories to make it as formal as you want, or keep it casual,” says realtor Rodney Chang, who showed the open house. “It feels like a home, not a cold structure.”

The outside is just as pretty, with tropical landscaping and a large lanai around the pool. The pool lanai, in fact, is obviously built for entertaining, with its own shower and covered seating area. There’s also a rock waterfall that’s quite impressive.

Since it’s built for entertaining, there is a three-car garage and a big driveway (so your friends don’t have to hunt for parking).
