Editor’s Page: Happy Holidays

What’s not to love about the holidays? This holiday issue is a great place to start.

The sound of nostalgic holiday tunes, the smell of fresh pine, peppermint, cinnamon and gingerbread, the taste of eggnog, hot cocoa and freshly baked cookies and the joy of decking the halls, trimming the tree and watching your children giggle with joy all throughout the festive season. What’s not to love about the holidays?

This season, give the gift of time. Spend quality moments together, creating fun, crazy, sentimental memories. These are what you and your children will look back on fondly and cherish the most. This holiday issue is a great place to start.

“A Season of Making and Giving,” starting on page 19 (in the magazine), is filled with neat homemade gifts you can create with your children. Personalized artwork, not-so-perfect handwriting and ribbon tying are what make each gift so special. Be sure to snap a few photos to capture these moments together.

A bit of chill in the air is all the more reason to snuggle up with a holiday look. Take a look at some fun, age-appropriate reads on pages 5 and 6 (in the magazine) and head to your nearest library to check them out.

There is sure to be a festive holiday parade coming through your neighborhood.

If not, you can always watch the annual Honolulu City Lights parade and visit Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele at City Hall. “Out & About,” on pages 7 and 8 in the magazine, lists the dates and times of the parades around the Island.

Whatever you choose to do this holiday season, enjoy every joyous moment.
