Editor’s Page: What a Difference a Year Makes

Change is good. Last November, Island Family Magazine announced big plans to relaunch the publication under the HONOLULU Magazine brand. The goal was to evolve and strengthen the magazine so it could continue to be the best local resource for parents, grandparents, parents-to-be and educators helping to raise young children on O‘ahu.
As I reflect on the past year, I’m thrilled with the many milestones we achieved. From the rich, locally produced stories, on topics such as education, health and adventure, to the newly redesigned website filled with fun things to do with the family, recipes, book recommendations, videos, web exclusives, expert advice and more. For those who missed our monthly presence, we embarked on other ways to stay connected. We launched a weekly e-newsletter with great giveaways, timely information and stories. We also welcomed two local bloggers (mom of two, Ashley DeColigny, and dad of two, Nathan Kam), who share amusing anecdotes and tips on the topics of Family Fun and Good Health.
Additionally, we got more tech savvy and premiered a handy-dandy iPhone and Android app that provides quick and easy access to upcoming family-friendly events and deals. Our app also provides an easy method for readers to snap cute photos of their keiki and share them with other friends at HONOLULU Family with a simple click of a button. Our magazine is also available digitally for free by downloading the HONOLULU Magazine app in the Apple Newsstand. If you haven’t “liked” us yet via Facebook, we’d love to be your friend so we can share resourceful information with you, such as our Cover Kids Contest. Who doesn’t want to win free milk for a year?
I’m excited about some of the new changes in the coming year. I promise, it will be all good and with you, our loyal readers, in mind. As your families grow and evolve, so will we. Thanks for your support.
