Eco Maniac
Especially now that there's the new Chinatown boutique Super Citizen. Open only a few weeks, the whole shop is stocked with products that are sustainable, locally made and designed, and eco-friendly.
Traipsing from store to store searching for environmentally friendly clothes and accessories is, ironically, sort of like driving your clunker you didn't cash in. As in, a huge waste of energy.
Heading straight out after work? Pick up a cool little American Apparel tank dress or comfy cotton tee. Then dress it up with a few stylish accessories, like a pendant necklace or a pair of drop earrings from Beachcomber Jewelry, and an Ecolicious organic tote, printed with graphic ocean scenes.
Need a gift for a pau hana birthday party? Snap up a few all-natural Malie Organics beauty products, made on Kauai from indigenous Hawaiian flowers, or a Klean Kanteen reuseable water bottle.
Owner Sandra Fowler even fills her shelves (most of which are recycled themselves) with a handful of stylish sustainable home goods, like bamboo utensils, recycled wood wine stoppers, and clocks that run on water. And there are eco-minded kids books and dolls too, as well as Green Babies Onesies made with organic fabrics and non-reactive dyes.
The best part? The stock of fun green products is always renewing.
Now that's what you'd call a natural resource.
