Double Take: Dolce reopens with a new owner and fresh new fashions.

The ruffled blouse and the maxi skirt, or the two-for-one tanks and the cute capris? And what about the gorgeous cashmere cardigan — if you give up your Starbucks runs for a month, can you get that too? Surrounded by must-haves in your favorite boutique, it’s tempting to just buy the whole store.
Local fashion fan Jayne Lee understands. This September, she did literally just that. A regular at the recently shuttered Dolce boutique, she had always wanted a shop of her own. “When I heard that the owner was looking to sell, I jumped at the chance,” says Lee. She reopened in November in a brand new space, double the size of the old spot, at the opposite end of Ward Centre.
In the clean-lined basics department, Lee picked up right where the former shop left off, stocking her shelves with slouchy Nation pocket tees, striped Michael Lauren flyaway cardigans and easy, solid-hued tank dresses from Blaque Label.
“But I also wanted to step things up a bit,” says Lee, referring to the store’s handful of edgier L.A. and New York brands—personal favorites discovered through her love of online shopping. You’ll find cozy Rails plaid button-downs, graphic print party dresses from Tart and Contrarian, and reversible skinny jeans from Bleulab.
And Lee didn’t scrimp on the accessories, peppering the boutique with studded clutches, dual-print cashmere scarves and jewelry trees strung with gold-dipped hoops, wrap bracelets, stackable rings and more. On what drove her to take it all on, “I’m a shopaholic,” says Lee with a smile. “I would shop every day if I could!” Ward Centers, 596-9436.
