How to deal with the Connecticut tragedy with your kids
- Don’t intentionally expose your children to any of the media regarding this tragedy.
- If your child learns of the incident today or in the next few days, listen attentively to his or her feelings and thoughts.
- Stay calm. Say back to your child what he or she has expressed so that your child is reassured that you are validating his or her emotions.
- Give your child lots of hugs and attention over the weekend,if he or she appears worried or distressed by the news.
