Crossfit workouts on snowy Mauna Kea, Hawaii

Crossfit workouts are intense at the best of times, but a recent snowfall on Mauna Kea inspired members of the Waimea gym Crossfit Allstar to venture up for an especially hardcore session at 13,000 feet. “You can’t really tell from the photo, but the wind was incredible,” says gym owner KC Stallsmith. “It was freezing, the footing was crazy because of the snow, and of course there was oxygen deprivation from the elevation. It was super tough.” Translation: It was awesome. Why the bathing suits? Says Stallsmith, “Those were members of the Loyola Marymount swim team, home from spring break. They wanted to show their coach they were working out while on vacation.” crossfitallstar.com.
