Big love living in Kaimuki

Many families in Hawaii have homes that facilitate multi-generational living, sometimes by choice, and sometimes by circumstance. It's always good if you can customize that living arrangement to be as separate or as close as you want it to be, with the option to change your mind at any time. (Wink, wink.)
This home on 8th Ave., built in 2003, was designed to do just that. It's designated as a condo under the Condominium Property Regime (CPR), which tends to be more affordable than your typical detached house. The definition of CPR is a whole blog post in itself (hopefully tomorrow), but, essentially, it's a home that meets specific guidelines and a minimum lot size, depending on how many units are on the subdivision.
This 2,274-square-foot home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs, and two bedrooms with one bathroom downstairs. There are separate entries to the two levels, of course, and there is a connecting doorway in case you want to go upstairs or downstairs to join each other for dinner. Or, if you prefer it to be a rental, you can simply lock the door.
There is a two-car garage and a single carport, and the lot-at 5,205 square feet-allows for additional parking. If you had a big family or lots of guests, you could fit a total of seven cars here.
The location itself is also close, but not that close to the hustle and bustle of Kaimuki. It's less than a block away from Waialae Ave., so you could walk to the shops and restaurants of the area (it rates a 91 on Walkscore.com), but is tucked away enough to be quiet amid the mountain views. (Click here for more details.)
It will be open this coming Sunday, Nov. 13.
