Having just commemorated the 25th anniversary in his Ala Moana office on Nov. 12, 2019, Dr. Ed Cassella has more than 35 years of experience treating patients with periodontal (gum) issues. Although dental implants are a part of his practice, his primary focus continues to be helping patients keep their teeth and maintain dental health through the treatment of periodontal diseases and the repair of bone loss and gum recession. He states that inflammatory gum disease affects people’s overall health far more than they realize and is a significant health risk if left untreated.

Dr. Cassella graduated from dental school with the highest honors (OKU) in both academics and clinical performance. He received his Board Certification status in periodontics in 1989 and has been re-certified through 2022. With 23 years of military service, he continues to be a leader in the community and represents his industry locally and nationally. He has been honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award (2009) and Lifetime Achievement Award (2018) from the Hawaii Dental Association. “I appreciate the support I have received from my colleagues and patients over the years, and I’m especially thankful for my staff and new associate, Dr. Ryan Yim, who is a true asset to the practice,” he states. “Most importantly, I am thankful for the support of my wife of 49 years, Rita, and our daughters, Leanne and Dena.”
