We survived the beginning of 2018—a false missile alarm, a government shutdown, the flu season from hell. We deserve a treat-yo’-self session and local jewelry label B.D’Angelo is back just in time with an collection of edgy, beautiful baubles that will actually help make the world a better place for the rest of 2018 and beyond. Stylish plus proactive? Want.
Take an ogle at the Polar Change Collection, designer Marissa Beatrice’s creative response to the global warming crisis. Stunned by how climate change is affecting creatures such as the polar bear and inspired by nature photographers in the arctic, Beatrice took her tensions to the workbench. Five percent of Polar Change purchases will go to benefit SeaLegacy, an ocean advocacy organization.
AURORA POLAR NECKLACE, POLAR STUD EARRINGS
You’ll find gorgeous natural stones in transfixing opalescent sheens and gradients. Beatrice used aquamarine, topaz, citrine, tsavorite garnet and sunstone to represent elements impacting polar bears’ homes—the ocean, ice, sun, earth and heat. Among sterling silver and white-gold metalwork appear polar bears on simple studs or marching along a keychain.
POLAR BEAR HEAD HUGGIES EARRINGS, POLAR KEYCHAIN
The standout piece from the collection, though, is the jaw-dropping Polar Protection Earring, in which silver bears clutch at chunky icelike sunstones with orange tints, made to look like floes heating up beneath the bears’ paws.
Prices range from $65 to $879, available at bdangelo.com
