Ava Sky’s new summer collection out now

Reach for the Sky

You hear the prediction at six and 10 every day: 80 degrees, 15 mph trade winds and moderate humidity. Hawaii’s weather may be stable, but your fashion forecast is hitting an extreme cool front thanks to the new Ava Sky Summer ’14 clothing collection.

Designers and Fighting Eel creators Lan Chung and Rona Bennett have branched their apparel line into new airspace with more opaque fabrics that let you skip the slip and shed the layers this summer. The cozy cotton feel of these pieces, which come in a stretchy Viscose and Elastane blend, or a light, floaty Tencel, perfectly combines softness with coverage.

The collection, which just hit the Fighting Eel floor, is flying high with the same vibrant prints and eye-catching design details for which the brand is known. Lounge by the pool in sweet cover-ups in colors that include orange creamsicle, or bask in the sun in must-have strappy-backed body suits. You’ll be wondering how long you can possibly live in the blue-tiled wide-cut tanks and sassy chevron shorts. The answer? The sky’s the limit, because these urban styles will keep you chic from the beach to the street.

Talk about heaven on earth.

Shop the new collection at Fighting Eel downtown, 1133 Bethel St., or visit avaskyhawaii.com for more retailers. Pieces range from $66–$154.
