2018 Sony Open in Hawai‘i Official Pro-Am Tournament

This year’s Sony Open in Hawai‘i kicked off with a pro-am tournament at the Wai‘alae Country Club on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The celebrity lineup included Jumanji’s Nick Jonas, Baywatch’s Kelly Rohrbach and 2017 Sony Open champion Justin Thomas.

2017 Surfer Awards

The surf world’s annual gala was held at Turtle Bay Resort on Dec. 6. The awards show, which is organized by Surfer Magazine, recognizes the publication’s readers’ votes for favorite surfers.

2017 Made in Hawai‘i Festival

The first day of the Made in Hawaiʻi Festival was held on Aug. 18 at The Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall and Arena. The much-anticipated festival features hundreds of local-made food products, books, gifts, apparel, jewelry, produce and more.

Don Ho Tribute at the International Market Place

On Aug. 13, the International Market Place paid tribute to the legendary Don Ho and his contributions to the history and music of Hawai‘i. The ceremony began with an unveiling of the marketplace’s new bronze sculpture of the singer, created by Honolulu artist Kim Duffett, followed by a Don Ho kanikapila and tribute show.

Ten students in the Fashion Design and Merchandising program at UH Mānoa presented their designs at the 50th annual UH Mānoa fashion show on Sunday, May 1 in the Kennedy Theatre.
