Dreamt up by owners Laura Ivy and Alessandra Klein, the declarative totes were created as a way for the girls to combine their love for vintage fashion with their affinity for their favorite parts of Oahu, like Kaimuki, where both live and Drift is located. The eco-chic bags are made entirely of vintage fabrics sourced from local consignment stores and come equipped with sturdy canvas bodies. At around 15 by 20 inches they clock in slightly larger than the average shopper – perfect for hauling groceries or a day’s worth of shopping spoils.
The neighborhoods, which also include Kailua, Town, and Country (and more on the way) are screen-printed by hand in a crackled green ink that gives off a cool, worn-in feel. And the finishing touches – the handles, inner trim and heart are all hand-stitched swatches of vintage Tori Richard fabrics that come in a range of playful prints, from pretty floral and paisley mixes to funkier, tribal-like patterns.
