Afterthoughts: Life Was Plastic

Is it too soon to get nostalgic for local plastic shop bags?

Last month, Honolulu’s plastic-bag ban went into effect, forcing shoppers to either opt for paper bags or bring their own reusable tote. Or, if you’re anything like me, you just dove into your kitchen closet and grabbed a bag from the small mountain of bags that’s been piling up there for years. Is it weird that I suddenly want to hang on to a few of them, now that local stores aren’t making them any more? Fortunately, it looks like I’ve got enough to last a lifetime or two.
