A sneak peek at Barrio Vintage's first fashion show

Vintage Crave

Moda by Barrio Vintage

Time travel is way fun. So says your future self, and yes, we chat now and then.

Future self also says you'll get your first shot at time travel Saturday night thanks to Moda, Barrio Vintage's first-ever fashion show. Owners Bradley Rhea and Jonathan Saupe will transport you back in time via runway, vintage outfits, a live DJ, mood lighting, and painted mannequins. Check out the inspiration board above (a combination of photos, notes, and actual pieces from the show) for a peek at what's to come.

The concept: what a hip college student might have worn in the '60s and '70s, but layered with a '90s twist. Think strong silhouettes, graphic prints, worldly statement jewelry, and a touch of grunge. A cropped top paired with sharply tailored paisley cigarette pants. A soft, flowy maxi topped with a chambray shirt. Dramatic tribal necklaces and sparkling hand chains mixed with Journey and Electric Light Orchestra T-shirts.

Most of the pieces were acquired during a recent buying trip in Arizona, though special "reserve" items – like a buttery leather East West jacket, a musician's must-have in the '60s and '70s – were pulled directly from Barrio's archives.

Sounds like a good reason to warm up the DeLorean.

Moda by Barrio Vintage takes place this Saturday at thirtyninehotel, 39 N. Hotel St. Doors open at 8 p.m., fashion show starts at 10 p.m. No cover, ages 21 and over only. Click here for more information.
