A New Collab Summer Pant Is Not Short on Style

Jana Lam and Matt Bruening have done the leg work to create this season's wardrobe staple. Here are the deets.

This summer, designer Matt Bruening styled and photographed (yup, he’s a Matt of all trades) Jana Lam’s Peace and Palm collection, and her Seaflower Pareos. Little did Lam know that after this shoot, she would have another collab in the bag.

“Matt took a pareo home and he was instantly inspire," Lam says. "We gave him a few more and next thing we knew, he had transformed them into pants."

The lightweight cotton bottom, which is hand sewn by Bruening, comes in three different colors: violet blue, marigold and blush magenta. A paper-bag waistline and wide-leg style are familiar traits for fans of his designs. To me, what bumps up the cool factor, besides the gauzy fabric, is the oversized seaflower pattern. It puts some bloom bloom POW into wild summer days. Matt Breuning Jana Lam
