ICYMI: The 2026 Hale ‘Aina Gala Takes Guests on a Culinary Escape to Fantasy Island

On Saturday, Sept. 5, Hawai‘i’s culinary stars took over The Kāhala Hotel & Resort for HONOLULU Magazine’s annual Hale ‘Aina Celebration presented by First Hawaiian Bank and Mastercard. This year’s theme, Fantasy Island, brought the beauty, nostalgia and adventure of the islands to life with an evening designed around discovery—and plenty to eat along the way.

Guests wandered through immersive experiences inspired by the tropics, from the tranquil Blue Lagoon to the adventurous Pirate’s Cove and Vintage Hawai‘i, while enjoying live entertainment and drinks throughout the evening. The result was less traditional gala and more culinary escape, with every corner offering something new to taste, sip or explore.

By the end of the night, Fantasy Island had delivered on its promise: a little escapism, a lot of flavor and a fitting celebration of Hawai‘i’s culinary community. With award-winning dishes, tropical cocktails, immersive experiences and island style all under one roof, Hale ‘Aina 2026 was a delicious reminder that in Hawai‘i, a great dinner can be an adventure all its own.
