Taking your kids on a family adventure is one of the pleasures of parenting, and seeing them wide-eyed and having a blast is something you’ll never forget, even after they’re grown.

Of course, there are different interpretations of a family adventure. For The Bucket List Family, whom we featured in this issue’s cover story, trips have involved swimming with killer whales in Mexico and taking a polar plunge in Antarctica. And their daring expeditions are followed by millions of people around the world.

But thrills can also happen right on O‘ahu. HONOLULU Family contributing editor Laura Dornbush, a mom to an energetic 9-year-old boy, is well-versed in cool local activities that parents and their children can do together. She shares some of these ideas in her story, “We Tried It and Your Family Can Too.”

Our Best of HONOLULU Family section features even more ways to enjoy time with your kids, whether it’s playing 36 rounds of mini golf followed by ziplining, or going down a 20-foot waterslide that ends with a splash.

We hope you enjoy this issue and that it inspires you to get outside and have some serious family fun!
