BYRON IZUKA, M.D., is board certified by theAmerican Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. Through his clinical research, he has expertise with the non-operative treatment of elbow, forearm and wrist fractures and was the principal designer of the first specialized elbow brace for the treatment of stable elbow fractures in children, a product used today by clinicians worldwide.

Dr. Izuka earned his medical degree at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine and did his orthopedic surgery residency at the Queen’s Medical Center. He completed fellowships in orthopedic research at Ranchos Los Amigos Medical Center in California and in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Florida. Since 2011 he has been providing orthopedic care at Hawai‘i’s top medical facilities including the Queen’s Medical Center, Pali Momi Medical Center and Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children and joined Shriners Children’s Hawai‘i in 2025.

Dr. Izuka proudly volunteers as the sideline/courtside physician for numerous local high schools and clubs. An avid sports fan, he can often be spotted at games and tournaments practicing his love for sports photography.
