See eight features and a short film program centered around Black experiences, including The Fisherman, which follows a Ghana man pursuing his dream of buying a fishing boat, with a talking fish at his side.

Eat malasadas, burgers and Portuguese bean soup, catch thrills on rides, play games and have a roaring good time at Carnival 2026: Welcome to the Jungle.

The Punahou Carnival Art Gallery, Hawai‘i’s largest art show, features more than 1,000 paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and glass by nearly 300 Hawai‘i artists. The gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7.

 


 

OPERA

The Riot Grrrl on Mars

Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 15, 4 p.m.

This English adaptation of The Italian Girl in Algiers transposes the story to Mars, where the Riot Grrrl has come to rescue her captive sweetheart, Mosquito, from the King of Mars.

Chinatown Festival & Parade

Feb. 14, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Ring in the Year of the Horse during the city’s biggest Chinese New Year celebration with food vendors, entertainment and a grand parade of lions, dragons and community organizations.

HapaSymphony Featuring Keauhou
