CRDG SUMMER PROGRAMS AT THE UNIVERSITY LABORATORY SCHOOL
The Curriculum Research & Development Group (CRDG) Summer Programs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa continues its commitment of more than 40 years to provide summer enrichment learning and exploration. Students entering grades three through twelve discover what it takes to be scientists conducting research in the laboratory and field; engineers designing and building solutions to real world problems; conservationists working to protect the natural resources of the aina; and playwrights and actors writing, producing and starring in an original production. HANAHAUOLI SCHOOL
Hanahauoli Summer School offers the opportunity to experience courses that reflect the integrated and thematic teaching central to the school’s yearlong curriculum. These classes bring together skill development in language, math, science, social studies and the arts based on an interesting and motivating theme. Many other courses in arts and special-interest areas are available in this six-week session. Hanalani School’s “Ka Imi Loa: Summer Explorations” summer program is an activity-packed, six-week program for students in grades three through five, featuring field trips, hands-on activities, crafts and outdoor play time. There are also some studies, just to make sure students don’t forget. Each grade has an exciting theme on which the activities, field trips and crafts are based. MUN LUN CHINESE SCHOOL
Give your child an edge on the future by learning the language of a world economic leader. Mandarin, the language of the 21st century, is the focus of Mun Lun’s curriculum. Classes are offered to 5- to 16-year-olds in Fundamentals, Conversation, Calligraphy, Songs/ Dance/ Drums, and Kung-Fu. Taught by native-speaking instructors proficient in English, the school provides authentic language structure, pronunciation and culture. Summer school isn’t for everyone … but at the Myron B. Thompson Academy (MBTA) it is! Students who enroll in MBTA’s summer program are able to hold summer jobs, get a jump start on credits for the next school year, or make up a class or two, while still participating in leisure activities that make their summer break rewarding.
