5 Reasons We’re Excited About Urban Outfitters Hawai‘i

There are a lot of things to be thankful for this year: The introduction of Koko Head Café cornflake French toast into our lives. The fact that the new Cinderella trailer looks like it is going to be everything our childhood selves ever dreamed. And, of course, we're finally getting our own Urban Outfitters.
The Waikīkī store opens this Saturday, so if you planned to spend that day lying in bed recuperating from Black Friday, well, sorry, but it isn't gonna happen. Like Trader Joe's, Ikea and Zara, Urban Outfitters is one of everyone's first stops when they visit the Mainland.
Now we can finally get our boho, moderately priced shop on without having to buy a $300 plane ticket.
Besides the obvious (Cute clothes. Sweet deals. Duh.), here are a few reasons why we seriously can't stop jumping up and down over this opening. H&M and Urban Outfitters in the same neighborhood? Can we just move in already?
1. The Sun Shop
This ain't your Mainland Urban Outfitters. Because we're the Land of Beaches (that's got to be official somewhere, right?), the Hawai'i location will feature a Sun Shop, dedicated entirely to surf and swim. Above is a sneak peek at some of the oodles of bikinis you'll be able to score. They're all mix-and-match, so you can give your tush and top the extra-special love they both deserve.
2. Cool art
UO partnered with artist network and organization Pow! Wow! Hawai'i to bring San Francisco-based artist Kristen Farr to the store to create a mural inside the space. We are already way into Farr's spunky, geometric style—is she available to mural-ize our office?
3. Exclusive collabs
We told you this wasn't your Mainland Urban Outfitters, right? The Waikīkī location has a bunch of special features created just for it, including an exclusive collection by street-wear label Zanerobe, a record shop and a souvenir shop created by the adorable Three Potato Four. That means other urbanites won't be able to find these slick pieces. Show 'em off to get back at all your Mainland friends who've spent years bragging to you about the sweet shopping deals they've scored at their local Urbans.
4. A bangin' social media presence
If you're not following @uohawaii on Instagram yet, do yourself a favor and get on that. We love how the brand is getting a Hawai'i vibe on with Instagram takeovers from local stylish cyberistas, including Art and Flea's Aly Ishikuni, designer and photographer Brooke Dombroski and photographer Casey Liu. Drift away in dreamy rustic, wave-, art-, sand- and food-filled photos on its feed.
5. A slew of local products
We love UO clothes (obviously). But how exciting will it be to see well-known local favorites such as Samudra, Roam Hawai'i and Quality Peoples in an Urban Outfitters? Get 'em in the store's special local pop-up-shop section and look for exclusive or limited-time collabs while you're at it.
Opens Saturday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. 2424 Kalākaua Ave.
