The difference a facelift can make

Kahala Towers is an older condo, built in 1968, but when you step into the remodeled A2104 unit, you forget the building’s age.

This newly-listed unit was completely remodeled in 2009 with granite counters, modern cabinets, contemporary lighting and upgraded laminate flooring. Compared to other units in the building that have never had a facelift, this place is dramatically more stylish, and somehow the brightness makes the space look larger than it is. It helps that the unit is on a high floor, so you get panoramic views of east Honolulu and the ocean.

It seems to be one of those places that appeals to people that want or have an active lifestyle: The condo itself is a convenient spot to live, as it’s across the street from Kahala Mall, a stone’s throw from Waialae Golf Course, and is right on the bus line. It’s also pet-friendly in a walkable neighborhood.
In a newer building, such a two-bedroom, two-bath unit would probably be out of reach for most home buyers, but since Kahala Towers is an older building, it is $488,000. But remember, the living area is on the inside, not the outside. This one is a pretty good find.
