7 Pieces I Broke My Budget for at Madewell’s Store Opening at Ala Moana

More than likely, if I’m not at my desk, I’m (probably) at Madewell.

Remember that scene from Elf when Buddy was super excited that Santa was coming? That was my level of excitement when I heard one of my favorite brands was landing here. “Madewell’s coming, Madewell’s coming,” I shouted to the office.

At a party, one of my sisters-in-law asked me where I got my outfit from, and I said, Madewell. She said, “Yeah, it looks like it’s made well.” Shocked and shook, I explained to her what Madewell is. It’s a Mainland chain boutique (sister to J.Crew) that carries a mix of preppy, polished basics, everyday denims for all body types and funky-fun, seasonal pieces.

The Madewell in Ala Moana opened one week ago. The space is darling, charming and brimming with the brand’s signature pieces and of-the-moment collections, including swimsuits. I’ve been there twice already. And, while I want everything I see, there were some pieces that stole my heart—and cash.

I love thick-framed sunglasses. They add edge. And the Moody Tort print takes it to next-level badassery. (Belgrave sunglasses, $65.)
I usually only wear tennies on my morning jog, but when I spotted these sneaks, I had to try them on. Good thing I did, their soft and light-as-air fit sold me. (Spotted calf-hair and suede sneakers, $98.)
The Dorset lightweight blazer is perfect for Hawai‘i’s weather and it travels easily from professional to pau hana. ($168.)
I love a good piece of jewelry that has rainbow swag. (Semiprecious stone baguette ring, $28.)
I’m a mom, so mom-jean styles fit me like a glove. The classic straight jeans in petite (for my height, not my weight) is jus’ riiiite! Side note: most of their denims come in regular, petite and long. ($125.)
Snakeskin print is wild but add pops of crayon colors, and it’s magical. (Transport camera bag. $148.)
Soft bandannas are one of my go-to accessories to zhuzsh up a denim-and-tee look or add more sss-sexiness to a snakeskin purse. ($15.)
