7 Hawaii Celebrities Take On ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Bill Gates, Tom Cruise, Ricky Martin, Steven Spielberg, Lindsay Lohan, Conan O’Brien and Oprah Winfrey have all done it. Your neighbor has probably done it, too. You’ve probably seen your social media feeds populated with videos of people dumping buckets of ice water on their heads. In Hawaii, local are taking part in this “Ice Bucket Challenge,” either pouring a bucket of ice water over their heads or donating $100 to the ALS Association (sometimes both).

So far, ALS has collected more than $41.8 million in donations from this viral social media campaign to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Take a look below at a few Ice Bucket Challenge videos from Hawaii’s personalities. Hey, we can’t blame them for cooling off this way, it has been pretty hot and sticky lately.

Jake Shimabukuro

Even the entertainer’s ukulele does not get a free pass.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Can you smell what “The Rock” is cooking? Or, in this case…er, drinking?

Lee Anne Wong

We give high marks to former Top Chef contestant and Koko Head Cafe chef Lee Anne Wong, who gets doused by not one but 10 buckets of ice water!

Peter Lenkov

In this three-part video, the Hawaii Five-0 executive producer gives his cast their “toughest assignment yet.”

Jorge Garcia, Alex O’Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim

After getting drenched in cold water, Lost star Jorge Garcia and Hawaii Five-0 stars Alex O’Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim nominated Leslie Moonve, the CEO of CBS Corporation. And yes, Moonve did partake in the challenge (see the video).

Will President Barack Obama be next? Obama has reportedly opted to donate rather than get doused, although former president George W. Bush has done it (thanks to wife, Laura).
