All Souls’ Day Celebration

Nov. 2

All Souls’ Day is a time to reflect and pray for ancestors. In remembrance of the departed, Temples Memorial Park will be providing prayer boards, complimentary refreshments and giveaways. The park invites guests from all backgrounds to witness and participate in the event’s time-honored rituals.

Leeward Discovery Fair

Nov. 4

Spend a day with the fam bam engaging in interactive exhibits, visiting various food booths and participating in a variety of “Safe Communities” activities at the sixth annual Leeward Discovery Fair. Attendees can also meet some of the Honolulu Police Department’s canine crew while fighting virtual fires and exploring emergency vehicles.

Oʻahu Homebrewing Festival

Nov. 4

Enjoy a drink or two while professional judges determine who the best brewers are in dozens of categories, including everything from lagers and porters to ales and IPAs. There will also be brewing demonstrations to keep festivalgoers entertained before the winners are announced at 2 p.m.

5th Annual Kalākaua Tweed Ride

Throw it back to a bygone era while celebrating the birthday of King David Kalākaua. The afternoon will begin with three rousing cheers for the king, followed by a leisurely bicycle ride and tea service at The Lounge at Ala Wai Community Park. Dress to impress and don’t forget to play the part—the most dashing dames and spiffy sirs will win honors, as determined by their fellow riders.

Zen, Ken, Sho Exhibit and Demonstration

Nov. 11 & 12

View beautiful Japanese calligraphy and ceramic pieces at the Zen, Ken, Sho exhibit. There will also be hojo (Japanese swordsmanship), chado (the way of tea), archery, tai chi, hitsuzendo (the way of the brush) and aikido demonstrations. Out of respect to the temple, guests are asked to refrain from wearing shorts or tank tops.
