1. Women of Wonders Film Fest

March 1 & 2

Celebrate the lives and accomplishments of women around the world at the Women of Wonders Film Fest. The festival brings female filmmakers together to showcase their talent and hold panel discussions on women making movies and producing alternative narratives.

2. First Friday at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum

March 3

Enjoy a night of art and music during First Friday at HISAM. The museum will stay open late, and this month features the jazz sounds of the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific – Hawaiʻi.

3. Honolulu Biennial 2017

March 8 to May 8

Engage with the rich cultural diversity of our Islands via art from the Pacific, the Asian continent and the Americas. Honolulu Biennial 2017 is a new, contemporary, visual-arts exhibition running from March 8 through May 8 at various sites throughout the city. The Biennial’s opening week alone includes more than 10 events.

4. Courtyard Cinema

March 9

Ward Village’s monthly Courtyard Cinema showcases a selection of Hawaiʻi International Film Festival-curated films. The March movie, which was filmed over the period of one year in New York City’s Westbeth Artists Housing, is Winter at Westbeth. It’s an inspirational story about community, aging and the need to keep creating.

5. Aloha Dance Convention 2017

March 11

Think you can dance? See how your moves compare to the 30 teams at Aloha Dance Convention, the biggest dance competition in Hawaiʻi. Dancers from all over the globe will compete for a chance to perform at the Honolulu Festival Grand Parade.

6. Great Hawaiian Rubber Duckie Race

March 18

Watch 20,000 cute, yellow rubber duckies take their annual dive into the Ala Wai Canal to help support those with disabilities in Hawaiʻi. Pre-race festivities are free, though there is a $5 suggested donation per duck adoption.

7. Taste of Hongwanji Bazaar

March 26

Get a taste of local Buddhist culture at this annual bazaar full of arts and crafts, entertainment, a plant sale, baked goods and more.
